Car Insurance is also known as auto insurance or motor insurance. In broader sense car insurance is also known as vehicle insurance which can be purchased for cars, trucks and other types of vehicles. The primary purpose of car insurance is to provide protection against all looses that occurs during traffic accidents and it also provides protection against liability that could be incurred in an accident.
Coverage
Minimum level of car Insurance each motorist required to carry depends on individual state law. Liability insurance covers all the claims against the policy holder. When you drive a car or any vehicle which is not owned by you then in that case you are covered by the owner of the vehicle’s policy. Non owners policies may be offered that would cover any vehicle the insured person drive. When you rent a car and if you have full coverage of comprehensive policies then it is also applied to the rental car. If you are paying via Visa or MasterCard then the card provide supplement collision damage coverage to the rental cars but there are some restrictions so please check this beforehand.
Liability
Liability part of car Insurance is the amount coverage for the damage by the insured driver during the accident. For example if the driver while driving the car damage a side of a house during the accident then the liability coverage will pay for the damage up to the liability amount.
Collision
Collision part of car Insurance is the amount coverage for the damage of the car during accident for the insured person subject to a deductible. The main purpose of this coverage is to pay for repair of the damaged vehicle or pay cash value of the vehicle if it is not repairable. This coverage is optional.
Comprehensive
Comprehensive part of car Insurance is the amount coverage for the damage of the car other than accident for the insured person subject to a deductible. If the car is damage in fire or vandalism or if there is a loss due to theft or weather or impacts with animals then this coverage is used. The main purpose of this coverage is to pay for repair of the damaged vehicle or pay cash value of the vehicle if it is not repairable or if it is lost. This coverage is optional.
Loss of use
If the insure vehicle is unusable then during the time the vehicle is repaired then the loss of use coverage of car Insurance covers the rental car expenses.
Uninsured or underinsured coverage
If during the accident the at-fault party either does not have car insurance or does not have enough car insurance to cover for the loss then your car insurance company acts as at fault party’s car insurance company.
Loan payoff or Lease payoff
If the value of the car is less than the amount owe by the loan then this negative equity is covered by this part of car insurance coverage in case the vehicle is beyond repair during an accident or any other non-collision loss.
There are so many things to pay every single month that you cringe when you have to give money for your insurance bill. This is completely normal because insurance seems like a waste of money. That is, until you need it!
In fact, that is what this type of coverage is all about. You pay for the policy hoping you will never need it but knowing that if you do it will be there to help you out.
Of course, the monthly premiums are not that cheap and that is because the companies must take into account how much money they would have to pay out should you need a special operation, or your house burned down, or something like that occurred.
Nobody likes to pay every month for insurance but it sure is worth it when a disastrous situation occurs and you have the policy you need to protect your interests.
Finding Coverage
Most Americans are under insured. This is a shame, but it is the truth. And, the number one reason people are underinsured is because the policy costs so much money. However, you can find good ones at lower prices if you are willing to shop around.
The easiest way to do this is to apply for an online quote with a website that submits your information to multiple carriers and gives you five or six quotes at once. Then, you can compare the prices as well as the policies to determine which one is the best deal for you.
This is a great way to do business because in no time you can find what you are looking for at the right price for you with just the right amount of policy.
Paying
The easiest way to pay for insurance for most people is monthly. That is because paying quarterly premiums can really hurt a budget and most people simply can’t afford it. So, the easiest way to go about paying for insurance is on a monthly basis.
Sometimes a small finance charge will apply, but that is usually minimal when compared to the ease of monthly payments. If you set up a monthly draft that is automatic from your bank you may also find that paying your premiums is easier than you imagined and you can budget better.
Discounts
If you buy multiple types of coverage from the same provider then you are likely to receive discounted rates. So, if at all possible buy your health, property, life, disability, auto, and more from the same company.
You need to save money wherever you can and if using one company will do that then you should definitely go for it. Also, you will only have one bill each month and that will make managing your finances and payments much easier as well.
Is cheap car insurance going to provide you with the amount of car insurance that you need? What are some tips for finding out how much car insurance you need? You would probably think that most people are over-insured, because it is going to make more money for the car insurance company, but a lot of people are actually underinsured when it comes to protecting their cars.
Legally, you probably aren’t going to be underinsured, but based on the value of your car, the type of driver that you are and so on you could definitely be underinsured. If you want to know how much insurance you need, ask your car insurance agent and he or she will be able to tell you what you need for the state in which you reside. Every state has different amounts of car insurance that is required for people that have a car registered in that state, so when you are shopping around for your car insurance quotes, you may want to get one quote with the minimum legal car insurance for your state and then with the amount of car insurance that you currently have. That way, you will be able to compare quotes and see which one really wins the title of cheap car insurance.
Another thing that you should look at is your deductible. If your car isn’t worth much more than the cost of your deductible, you may want to ask for different car insurance quotes with the minimum insurance and then some that have a really low deductible.
You may find that a lot of the cheap car insurance companies aren’t all that cheap when it comes to car insurance that isn’t at the minimum levels. A lot of these companies are going to have the cheapest minimum insurance, but then when you want to change the deductible or add insurance on a certain area, their insurance isn’t going to end up being that cheap after all.
You should also consider whether or not you can have the cheapest car insurance possible. A lot of loan companies and car dealers say that if you still owe money on a car or lease it from them, you have to maintain a certain level of insurance. They will definitely remind you how much insurance you are required to have before letting you drive the car off the lot when you purchase it, but you may forget that these levels will probably go down with each year that goes by. After all, a car that is brand new is worth a lot more money than one that is two years old. Make sure that you aren’t putting too much insurance on your car and that you aren’t wasting your money.
